This spectacular custom estate ring is epic! Brutalist free form style in 14k yellow gold. Pear shaped amethyst at the center, with genuine diamonds around it. Size 6.5
NOTE- ring is NOT stamped or marked in any way. It HAS acid tested positive for solid 14k. The fact that it is not signed makes me think it is a custom, artisan piece. One-of-a-kind heirloom piece!
These are the kinds of pieces that really excite us.
This is an antique Victorian mourning brooch made from human hair, a fascinating form of Victorian memorial jewelry in which a loved one's hair was woven and preserved as a keepsake. The craftsmanship here is especially wonderful. The hair has been intricately woven into a narrow, tube-like form and then arranged into the shape of a bow, which is an unusual and particularly charming design.
Two small tassel-like pieces of woven hair hang from the bottom of the bow. One is missing its end cap, but the hairwork itself remains beautifully intact. The center of the bow is finished with a gold-filled element engraved with a monogram. We think it may read MPC, although the engraving is difficult to decipher, so we'll leave that one up for debate.
Considering that this brooch is around 150 years old, it is in very good condition. Pieces of Victorian hairwork can be incredibly delicate, which makes the survival of this intricate woven work all the more remarkable.
This is a wonderfully unusual example of Victorian mourning jewelry, with a fascinating combination of craftsmanship, history, and personal meaning. Definitely a piece for someone who appreciates the stranger, more intimate corners of jewelry history.
This antique watch chain is wonderfully unusual, with the kind of details that make you stop and take a closer look.
The star of the show is the series of gorgeous banded agate panels, each one bringing its own natural pattern and earthy character. The fan and shell motifs give the piece a distinctly late Victorian feel, though the design also hints at the early Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods.
There are no visible stamps or hallmarks, and we believe the chain is a base metal with a silver-tone finish. At 11 inches long, it’s the perfect size for a collector who loves to get creative. Wear it as a unique necklace component, pair it with other antique chains, or use it as the foundation for your very own Franken-necklace (yes, that’s a thing and it’s we love it).
A wonderfully quirky piece of jewelry history waiting for its next incarnation.
