This is one of our favorite cameos at the moment, and for good reason.
The shell cameo is beautifully carved and set into an equally beautiful gold-filled frame, with an intricate braided border and floral details that appear to incorporate different shades of gold. It's a really lovely piece from every angle, and even the back has something to offer.
The bail swivels, so it can be tucked neatly out of the way when you're wearing it as a brooch. The pin back is stamped, although the mark is unfortunately too difficult for us to make out.
But here's the really good part: the artist signed the back of the shell. We don't come across signed shell cameos nearly as often, and that little signature makes this one particularly special. It's a wonderful detail for anyone who appreciates the craftsmanship and individuality that goes into a hand-carved cameo.
